The RDS GPS Tracking System is a GPS / GSM communication system through which all competitors of a rally are monitored along the route of the special stages and transfers. The GPS devices, installed on the competitors' vehicles, detect and transmit the data of geolocation to the RDS servers and make them available to the Race Direction for the purposes of monitoring of the race for safety and sporting reasons. The GPS Tracking System, in all its components, is mandatory for participation in all Modern Rally and Historical Rally, Sporting Regularity and Sporting Regularity queued to the Rally (are Slalom excluded).
The RDS GPS Tracking System consists of 2 devices:
Rally KIT for preparation, purchased and installed by the vehicle owner.
It consists of a box with a request button SOS , an OK button, monitoring lights power supply and wiring for connection to the BATTERY and the RDS GPS BOX.
It will be purchased by the crews and installed on the vehicle in a stable and definitive way according to the preferences of the pilot and navigator but, in all cases, according to the criteria indicated by ACI Sport Service.
Among the most important indications: the SOS request button must be reachable by both the crew members and with fastened seat belts.
For assembly, consult the wiring diagram supplied with the Kit.
GPS BOX owned by RDS.
Before each race, the RDS technical staff will connect their GPS BOX with the KIT Rally.
At the end of the race the GPS BOX will be uninstalled and disconnected from the Rally KIT.
IMPORTANT: Both the Rally KIT and the GPS BOX are equipped with an SOS button.
Please note that this key must only be used for a possible request for AID.
Pressing the SOS help request button promptly notifies the Race Direction of the state of emergency.
In the GPS BOX there is also the OK button which serves to signal that: “at present, not there are states of alarm or danger ”.
For it to work correctly you need to press it for at least 3 seconds ..
